Depending on how long you wish to stay abroad, you may want to explore other cultural and geographical aspects of the territory. Here is a list of options other companies do not usually offer:
1. Biking to villages off the beaten track
2. Travel by local bus to remote areas
3. Visit National Parks
4. Explore other countries nearby
5. Visit aid organizations, schools, hospitals, senior citizen homes
6. Spend a few days in other countries on the way (A few days on the beach in Thailand is nice after a long trek in Nepal.)
7. Take yoga, meditation, language, massage, cooking, martial arts, dance classes or workshops
8. Take an art or music class or learn from a tutor
9. Attend cultural performances, dance and music performances
10. Go to the main theater and watch movies with the locals
11. Adopt a homeless boy or girl for dinner or a movie
12. Focus on art, music, writing or other hobbies
13. Hike, camp, bike for 1-2 days
14. Visit schools and talk with students learning English
15. Volunteer where help is needed
16. Develop your own project, do research, write an article, help villagers build a house, collect garbage (I would love to work with students on independent projects.)
