While staying at The Eighth Street Trekkers’ Lodge you may decide to join Heather in the spring or in the fall for a two or three week customized adventure exploring the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. The trip includes a 5-15 day trek toward Mt. Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar at 18,300 Feet! Heather's company also sells unique imports from Nepal in the Himalayan Bazaar in her Garage, similar to one of many shops in Kathmandu. You'll find a variety of Himalayan gifts, Buddhist wall hangings, clothes, silk saris, pashmina shawls, Tibetan artifacts, recycled household items and more for sale in the Bazaar. Of Global Interest LLC also presents cultural talks about trekking in Nepal and life in the Himalayas for schools and other groups. Heather enjoys telling stories about her travels from her book, Writes of Passage through Nepal. You may also watch her documentary movie, Altitude, the story of the first cancer survivor to climb Mt. Everest. The Eighth Street Trekkers' Lodge is also The Everything's Art Gallery. The walls are decorated with many of Heather's paintings. Explore the house with a glass of wine. Have fun!

Children Welcome
Dear Guest:
Welcome to The Eighth Street Trekkers’ Lodge. I hope you enjoy your stay. The bathroom with shower is just outside the Contemporary Art Bedroom. Guest towels and soap are provided. A clock-radio and small TV are available in the guest room and there is a house key for your use. Please make sure the door is locked when you come in at night. Please smoke only on the back patio. Let me know if you need something more.
Breakfast is served in the dining room, or on the front porch, or in your room, as you prefer. If I am away, I will leave breakfast out for you. Ice is available in the freezer. The release is for insurance purposes. Please sign it when you arrive. Payment is due upon arrival if not in advance.
My cats name is Frederika. Like the tigers in Nepal, she will hide from you most likely. You will be lucky to see her at all. But if she does let you pet her, be aware that she has claws.
Main Street runs parallel to Eighth, about five blocks from the Trekkers’ Lodge. It's a nice ten-minute walk to many restaurants, cafes, and specialty shops on Main. From there, the University of Michigan campus is another ten minute walk, and the U of M Hospital is ten minutes from campus. The U of M Stadium is about a mile and a half from the Lodge, and the Kerrytown Shopping Center and Farmers’ Market is a fifteen minute walk. I invite you to play the bells in the tower at Kerrytown every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon. I am there Wednesdays and Fridays. Many theaters and nightclubs are within walking distance. It's easy to get around on foot and public transportation is also available nearby.
There are a number of street fairs and special events in Ann Arbor throughout the year. For a calendar listing, log onto www.annarbor.org. For information about Michigan, please go to www.michigan.org.
I await your arrival and look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Heather O'Neal
