Mt. Everest 2002 Expedition for Cancer Of Global Interest
In the spring of 2001, I received a long e-mail. "To whom it may concern," it said. At first I didn't think it concerned me -- until I got to the end. "I have a dream to climb to the top of Mt. Everest," the man wrote. "My goal is to be the first cancer survivor/patient to climb to the top of our earth."
Of Global Interest LLC Adventure Travel was hired to make it happen. On May 16, 2002, at 9:32 AM Nepali time, Sean Swarner of Colorado became the first cancer survivor to climb Mt. Everest. After spending most of his life surrounded by doctors, he is now an inspiration to anyone in a hospital bed. He operates a nonprofit organization called the CancerClimber Association which is raising money for cancer research. Visit Sean's website at: www.cancerclimber.org.
With the video footage I took during this most specialized customized tour, I created a 45 minute documentary movie titled Altitude. It's the story of the first cancer survivor to climb Mt. Everest. See the monthly events section on the home page for upcoming showings or call or e-mail to arrange a private showing for your friends.
At the site below you will find an interview with Everestnews.com.
This interview happened in February 2002 before the climb.
