Dear Adventurer,

Thank you for your interest in Of Global Interest LLC Adventure Travel.

NEPAL
The Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal, its amazing culture, and Mt. Everest await you.  Immerse yourself in a far away place.  Come home revitalized, energized, wise.

Appreciate lives so different from your own.  Get to know fellow human beings on the other side of the planet.  Trek to 18,000 feet.  Step outside yourself.  Be amazed.  Amaze yourself, your friends, your family.  Generate stories.  Make things interesting.

While attending the University of Wisconsin in 1986, I lived in Kathmandu for a year.  My junior year abroad included much more than living on my own and with a Nepali host family, exploring every neighborhood in Kathmandu and learning the Nepali language; I was steeped in culture, ancient religions and traditions.  With a degree in South Asian Studies, I have a sincere love for this part of the world.

While studying in Nepal I wrote a book, Writes of Passage through Nepal, which describes the magic I experienced there.  Now I am excited to share with you the eye-opening, enlightening encounters this amazing country has to offer.

I will travel to Nepal every spring and fall during the trekking seasons.  My Nepali business partner, Pemba Dorjee Sherpa, and I will escort a small group of globally interested, adventurous souls around Kathmandu and through the Himalayas at these two times every year.  Of Global Interest LLC will help you customize your adventure based on your interests.

Call or e-mail if you have any questions or to make an appointment to discuss the details of the trip.  I look forward to making your vacation of a lifetime a reality.

Sincerely,

Heather O’Neal

Of Global Interest, the people of Nepal, and the Himalayan Mountains invite you. Now's the time to explore this magical Himalayan kingdom. Let your daily worries dissolve and get ready for an awakening of mind, body, and spirit!

Medieval streets, exotic food, unbelievable shopping, rituals, incense and silk, ceremonies, profound beliefs, sacred rivers, pilgrimaging Buddhists, Hindu temples, bells, Tibetan refugees, compassionate beings, prayer flags, and real monkeys in the trees; that's Kathmandu.

Join Heather O'Neal, a veteran world traveler, for a personalized tour of Kathmandu. Trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp and enjoy three weeks of exciting, enlightening days. This culturally sensitive trip is for people who travel, who want a meaningful encounter.

Heather lived in Kathmandu during her Junior Year Abroad at the University of Wisconsin. While living with a Nepali family, she learned to speak the language and ate with her hand like the natives. She was so captivated by the Nepali culture, religions, and traditions she received a degree in South Asian Studies. Having written a book on the subject, Writes of Passage through Nepal, Heather is passionate about sharing her experience and expertise.

Every year in the spring and fall, Heather is available to accompany you and five others for a three week adventure which may include trekking to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Heather will acquaint you with the rigors and wonders of this little kingdom. She will help you develop your travel plans, ensure your comfort and safety and free up your time by making local arrangements.

In Kathmandu, Heather will find you at the airport. She will map out a few days of exploring in the Kathmandu Valley before you lose yourself in the Everest Trek or another adventure of your choice. Also Heather would like to make arrangements for you to volunteer in some capacity for at least an hour or two. Depending on your background, you can visit schools, clinics, or other settings to share your knowledge and make new friends.

Participating in the Everest Trek may keep you awake at night. Sleeplessness is common at high altitudes. And you may spend a few days without a hot shower. You will certainly experience a cultural feast of rituals and customs, and you will witness mountains too big for your imagination. Step by step, you will continue to climb. You will learn where your limits are. You will know yourself better. The Himalayan Mountains and the culture of Nepal will inspire you so bring a journal.

What about river rafting for a few days or a jungle safari on elephant-back, searching for wild rhino and Bengal tigers? How about a few days in India, and/or driving from Kathmandu, across the Tibetan Plateau, and on to Lhasa, Tibet? Heather will help create, arrange, and implement your own personal adventure. Make it a quest, a journey, a spiritual discovery.

Your individualized rate will depend on the benefits you request and the cost of services in Nepal (hotels, trekking, etc...). The travel application and an estimate of the cost of your customized trip is free. A free consultation in or near Ann Arbor, Michigan may also be arranged with no obligation. Also, if you are interested in traveling alone, Heather will offer travel advice and planning at the rate of $50 an hour. Please click here for more info about travel including rates.

Please send a message to Heather if you have any questions or to request a travel application.
